sFly EU project starts

March 05, 2009, sFly kick-off meeting:

Today it is the official start of the European project sFly: Swarm of Micro Flying Robots. The purpose of this project is to develop a team of autonomous and cooperative miniature helicopters which use only vision for navigation, localization, and 3D mapping in city-like environments. The potential applications of this project are rescue and monitoring. The project will end in December 2011.

The consortium is composed by: 

1) ETH Autonomous Systems Lab (project leader), Zurich, Switzerland

2) ETH Computer Vision Group, Zurich, Switzerland

3) INRIA: Institute Natinale de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique, Grenoble France, 

4) Techical University of Crete, Greece, 

5) Ascending Technologies GmbH, 

6) CSEM: Swiss center for Electronics and Microtechnology.
